I had one of my subscribers call me the other day and ask me a couple questions, and that blossomed into a 30 minute conversation, in which several technical topics were discussed.

This is a  great habit I picked up in my years in business, and years as a professional consultant.

I talk on my smartphone, but usually have a computer in front of me.  I have Google Keep open (or use the Keep app on my phone) and jot down things we discussed, and any action or follow-up items.

Generally, after a contact with a subscriber, client, or prospect, I SEND A FOLLOW-UP EMAIL, with a short summarized list (usually bullets) of:

• Here’s what we discussed
• Action Items
• Follow-up items

First, this shows that you were paying attention, and that you considered them important enough to summarize this for them.

The summary will most likely elicit a response, with discussion or corrections to any of your notes, but more importantly, strengthens your RELATIONSHIP, keeps the paths open for further contact, and demonstrates your WILLINGNESS to help.

Hmmm…  how could this be applied to your network marketing business?

Organize, Time Management, and Journaling

I grew up in business using the Franklin Planner, which was more than just an organizer. It was a METHODOLOGY by Stephen Covy, on how to organize and journal your appointments, tasks, notes, and follow-ups.  In those days, everything was manually hand written, but EVERYTHING was in that leather-bound 3-ring binder.  It was not unusual for me to have several extra “day pages” inserted for longer notes or journal entries.

IMPORTANT TIP REGARDING TAX DEDUCTIONS

Upgrades, subscription memberships, ad purchases, Supersolos, and traffic purchases are legitimate business expenses, that are tax deductible in the USA and other countries.   Tax laws favor BUSINESSES.

Similarly, autoresponder fees, marketing tools, landing pages, lead purchases, business opportunity registration fees, affiliate licenses, training in your business field, ebooks, etc. are also tax deductible.

This is a LEGAL way to reduce your taxable income, thus REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF TAX YOU PAY TO THE GOVERNMENT, or INCREASING YOUR TAX REFUND.

Business expenses offset any tax liability from any business income earned.

Sales are regular income, but residual income from COMMISSIONS is PASSIVE INCOME and taxed at a lower rate.

In the USA, file the 1040 long form, and use Schedule C to record your business income and expenses.

Year end strategy should be to LOAD UP with traffic deals, as tax deductions on your 2024 taxes, as long as the TRANSACTION is in 2024. 

If you PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD (not a debit card or pre-paid card), or use PAYPAL CREDIT to delay payment of your purchases, you can actually PAY that credit card balance in 2025 or later even though the purchase was made in 2024.

I got a notice that my domain name (webcastsource.com) expires TODAY and my auto-renew payment failed.  A link was provided in the email.

I know better than to get sucked in to a link in an email so I went to the MAIN Hostgator site I had bookmarked and tried to login.  It’s been awhile, and I had some login issues so I called  Support.

Other than the annoying background noise from the India-based helpdesk, we got the login issues fixed, and also discovered that my domain does NOT expire until next year.

Upon further examination, the ACTUAL originating email address turned out to be: “Hostgator” <contact@theheavyfactory.com>

Why the Format Change…Again?

I recently changed to a single column format, eliminated the AI graphics and payment links, reduced the width, and modified the presentation somewhat to satisfy the SPAM Detector gods, particularly with GetResponse.  My newsletters  were being blocked, not just being sent to a SPAM folder, but never being sent.  Too many links is a common complaint that results in SPAM gods whining, but it still gets sent so I’ll keep trying to refine my craft so I don’t get yelled at.
