I Had to Do This Twice Today… Extract text from Image

I had been working on an email for quite awhile, and went to save it, but NOTHING – just SPINS.

I pulled up the Windows Snipping Tool, and grabbed whatever I could from the screen, and saved it as a JPG file.

I used a utility called Extract Text From Image to get the plain text from the Snipping Tool image I had saved.

Select All (Ctrl+a), Copy (Ctrl+c), then Paste (Ctrl+v).

Done.

As admin of 264 safelists, I login to each site every day to approve ads, 7ndays per  week.  While there are many ad types that auto-approve like Solo ads and credit mails, I still have to REVIEW and TEST all banners, buttons, textlinks, login ads, and traffic (surf) sites.

For every ad you submit, there are certain system checks that will ensure your ads are safe (not on blacklisted sites or from banned countries).  The  system also scans for full or partial keywords, and secure sites (http//:).  These are never even entered into the system.

The BIGGEST issues I see:

• Sites do not display during frame-breaker test.
  • When you submit an ad, you should see the page you entered as the target URL DISPLAYED.  If your page does not display, I will deny it.
  • Common problems: Warrior+, Clickbank, and JVZoo sites MUST USE A SPLASH PAGE FIRST that redirects to the Warrior+, Clickbank, and JVZoo site
  • You should not see any error messages (like 404 page not found, or 500 error)
  • Your page should fully load
• Banners do not display.
  • PLEASE use the Banner Preview.
  • Common problems:
    • SSL (http://) is REQUIRED. 
    • Exception: There are still several of Dave’s sites that DO NOT require https://
    • Banner Image URL and Target URL are reversed
• Foreign language
  • I only speak English.  If any portion of your webpage is not in English, It will not be approve
• Flagged by antivirus or anti-malware
  • The URL will be removed from ALL sites
• Banner and URL Rotators
  • Clickbanners generally fail for URLs
  • Cloakers or banner rotators MUST USE https:// when you define the Image URL and Target URL inside the cloaker or rotator
  • TEST ALL URLs in your rotators.  One fail will get ALL disapproved

A REGULAR CAMPAIGN, the way they use it, would be like a one-time email to announce a spring sale.  HMMM… like I would use to broadcast my newsletters

An AUTORESPONDER CAMPAIGN is a SERIES of emails, sent after the subscriber has activated (with double opt-in, that means they verified their email)

An AUTORESPONDER campaign differs from a REGULAR campaign, having fields in the Campaign Confirmation Step

• Activate At, where you can set a start date and time, and
• Autoresponder Event, either After-Subscribe or After-Campaign-Open, where you select the email that PRECEDES it from the drop-down

TIP:  Because you will be selecting the PREVIOUS message from the drop-down when setting up an autoresponder, it is important that the Campaign Name is unique so YOU can identify it.  The email recipient does not see this field.

TIP:  To MOVE an autoresponder message (within an autresponder campaign), you must change BOTH the message you are MOVING, and the message that FOLLOWED the one you moved to reflect the correct After-Campaign-Open message from the drop-down

TIP: When setting up any campaign, do Save and Next after each step.  When finished, don’t forget to do Save and Activate, otherwise your email will not be sent.

I’m generally not a fan of email templates, only because my experience has not been great using them due to SPAM scanners and email deliverability.  If I were selling sweaters, or discussing the love life of frogs, loading up with graphics and pictures would be appropriate.

In fact, I keep my formatting to straight HTML text formatting tools available on most HTML editor toolbars, limit tables and graphics, because even my simple, albeit sometimes lengthy, newsletters were failing.  That’s why I switched back to a single column, and have eliminated the AI-generated graphics (it’s a shame,they were fun).

I do want to tell you about some sources I discovered for free HTML email templates.

While MyIMPartners has a perfectly good Block-mode Landing Page Builder, I prefer to keep all my landing pages, bridge pages, thankyou, and bonus pages in one place.

First Look:  What Tools Are Included with MyIMPartners?

Naturally, MIP is a full function autoreponder.  I’ve only had a short time to explore.  The system is fairly complex, but if you understand the basics, it can provide everything you need. In simple terms…

• First, you need to create a LIST.
• Once your list is created, you create a CAMPAIGN.
• You add autoresponder messages to your campaign.
• You can then generate your autoresponder HTML code
• Use the Landing Page Builder to create your capture page.Subscribers will be added to the LIST when they respond on the Capture Page and verify their email (double opt-in)
• Once you have subscribers on your LIST, you can create BROADCAST MESSAGES that are emailed to each subscriber, or you can segment the broadcast by GROUP.

I’m still trying to figure out things like email templates, landing page templates, images, tags, etc.  Not bad for a morning’s work so far.

TIP:  Check Your URL Rotators

When Dave Mosher’s sites convert from Peer2Peer Instant Commision sites to Dave’s latest standard safelist script, the referral URL using index2.php (the one that did not present an exit pop-up) will throw a 404 error. 

For instance, my referral URL was
https://commissionsunleashed.com/index2.php?r=richardmoyer

Once the site converted, this URL failed.  I had to go to all instances of my referral URL and change it to
https://commissionsunleashed.com/index.php?r=richardmoyer

I have suggested a fix to Dave, but it may take some time to implement.

URL Rotators Require URL Checking and Maintenance

You should periodically check your URLs within URL Rotators. If you have just a few to check, you can check them one-by-one, or even copy paste a few to bulk check with this free utility:
https://httpstatus.io/

You should see 200 buttons in GREEN.  Take action of those that do not pass.

TIP:  Common Causes for URL Failure.  Check https:// vs http://.  Just about everything is converting to SSL due to European regulations, so https:// is most likely required

Using SHEETS to Clean a List of URLs

If you have LOTS of URLs (like I do in my URL Rotators),  the URLs may be in a TABLE.

I copy the DATA I want from that table by clicking before the first data element on the first row of data, holding the SHIFT key, then clicking AFTER the last data element, then Ctrl+c (or right-click, then Copy from pop-up context menu).

I open a clean spreadsheet in Google SHEETS, then click in cell A1.  Ctrl+v (or right-click Paste from the context menu).  This will paste the LINKS to your data into SHEETS.

Select All (Ctrl+a)

Delete data from all columns except the one containing your URLs.

Select the whole column by clicking on the LETTER in the column header (ie A for Column A)

Right Click on the Column Header (ie A) and select View More Column Actions from the bottom of the context menu, then click Remove Link

You should now be able to Select All (Ctrl+a) and copy (Ctrl+c), then paste (Ctrl+v) into
https://httpstatus.io/

Weird Hidden Characters with ChatGPT

I frequently use AI to rewrite and recycle some of my old ad copy.  Hey, change it up, make it fresh.

I generated the new ad copy, pasted it into my “signature” template that I use for all my HTML formatted ads, and saved it into each HTML field in Lighting Autofill (my automation software) and JitBit Autotext (keyboard shortcut software).  I pasted the plain text into the text fields in Lightning Autotext and Jitbit, then saved the profiles.

Whenever I would submit an HTML ad using that ad copy, the solo or credit mail submission would fail with a 500 error (the safelist could not handle whatever you just did, so it croaked).  I was getting the same result when submitting the text version of the ad copy.  When I looked at it, the ad copy and HTML code LOOKED fine.

I did a Google search for a text cleaner, and set it up to remove only any non-ASCII characters, then tested it by pasting the “cleaned” ad copy into a solo ad.  IT WORKED!

I’ve seen it before that ChatGPT likes to use “graphic bullets” like stars or rocket ships, but I remove them because I know safelists DO NOT USUALLY LIKE THEM.   I also find these characters in emails by Jeff Aman and Frank Salinas, so beware, if you are duplicating their ad copy.

Apparently, there were OTHER hidden, or non-display characters inserted too.  I did the same cleaning procedure with the HTML AI generated code, and it also worked.

TIP:  If experiencing 500 errors after YOU submit an ad, try this cleaning procedure.  There are many other reasons for 500 errors, but if the timing is right, try cleaning your ad copy
