As a professional consultant, the SALES people would develop the client relationship, and call ME and my team to help the client (usually c-level or senior management) identify the business problem, and jointly develop a viable solution that usually saved them time, money, resources, etc. I’d help develop the business case, and help the client present this case to management or the board. Win-Win. I LOVED my job, working with customers, solving problems, usually saving them money. I worked with SALES, but hated doing sales myself.
Before I retired, the consulting firm did this FOR ME. I was the customer. They helped me WIN approval from the board, in my office sometimes til midnight fine tuning the business case and presentations. The day I retired, they called ME and asked if I would want to do the same thing for others that THEY DID FOR ME. It was a resounding YES.
