Setting Goals

Today's newsletter will be somewhat short because I am taking some personal time (hey,  I'm retired) to attend a graduation party for my niece, who got her Bachelor of Science degree from Temple University in Engineering.

She started out with a great plan, to become an Architect, but found that once she started towards that goal, the syllabus went in a different direction than what she perceived from the course catalog.  

She was actually in a double major with Engineering, and switched that to her primary degree, and dropped Architecture.  This extended her schooling by a year, but she dug in, and determined that THIS is what she really wanted.

Her Goal NOW is to take a semester off, pick up an internship, then jump back in to get her Masters in Aerospace Engineering.  She does not want to be the first astronaut in the family, but she has time to figure out what she wants to do with that degree.

The point of this story is that she started out with GOALS and a PLAN that took her to a point where she could UNDERSTAND how she envisioned herself in the field of Architecture, and determined that setting new GOALS was do-able, and she developed a new PLAN that minimized the impact, with many of the credits transferable, and by extending her education by a semester, she could get to where she REALLY wanted to be.

This could apply to YOUR BUSINESS. 

How many times do you have a dream, and when you actually start WORKING towards that dream, it is not as advertised, or you just hate it.  What if things beyond your control HAVE CHANGED?

Did you trudge through all the hype and figure out you are lousy at recruiting, or that your keys to success depend on you becoming a social media mogul, but that's just not you?

Maybe THAT MLM is not for you, but you have invested time and money so you don't want to throw that away, but sometimes, the cost to continue is not worth the mental anguish and frustration.  There are MANY opportunities out there so DO YOUR RESEARCH.

IT IS OK TO CHANGE YOUR MIND!  BUT… you must understand the IMPACT of your decision, SET NEW GOALS, and BUILD A PLAN that TRANSITIONS to your new goals that salvage or scrap what you already have done.

EXPERIENCE is HOW WE GROW.  Learn from it, and apply that knowledge going forward.

When is the Best Time to Post Ads?

Hmmm, that depends.  There are many factors to consider.

Timing of When to Submit

My biggest obstacle with several of my MOST TRUSTED sites is TIMING of WHEN TO SUBMIT MY ADS. 

For instance, I have several of the BigDogs CHIPs safelists that only allow email submissions every 48 or 72 hours.  That is not 40 or 65 hours, but 48 or 72 hours.  

BigDogs Training provides a CALENDAR that lays out the sites, and the days of the week to submit emails that accommodate the email frequency restrictions.  I have to be sure to START my routine EARLY ENOUGH ON MONDAY so I am not stuck submitting my ads later for the rest of the week.

Understanding Approval Issues

Just because you SUBMIT ads, it does not mean those ads will be approved.  Ads must be approved for the safelist to display them. 

Auto-Approve:

  • Some sites have AUTO-APPROVE capabilities.  It may be turned on for the whole site, or only certain ad types.
     
  • If not Auto-Approved, approvals must be done MANUALLY by the safelist Admin
     
  • On Dave Mosher's 300+ sites, Solo ads, Credit Mails, Supersolos, and Textlinks are auto-approved

Admin Location/Approval Schedule and Frequency.

If your ads must be manually approved, it depends on what TIMEZONE where the Admin resides, the Admin's work schedule, and how often the Admin checks the safelist Admin Dashboard to see if approvals are necessary.

  • Admins can be located anywhere in the world.  You may not know where the Admin is located
     
  • Some Admins check for ad approvals several times per day
     
  • I do approvals on Dave Mosher's 200+ sites once per day, usually late afternoon or evening (Eastern) 7 days per week for ad types that require approvals.  If Dave does it, it is a hour behind (Central time) Sunday through Friday.

Ad Type: 

On Dave Mosher's 200+ sites,

  • Solo ads, Credit Mails, Textlinks, and SuperSolos are auto-approved
     
  • Manual approval is required for banners, buttons, surf sites, sponsor login ads, and Personal Builder Pages.  Profile pictures must also be approved.

Queue Depth

  • Certain email ads like Credit Mails and Solos are QUEUED for sending due to email sending rules for the site.  Most sites PACE the release of emails from the queue so Google does not shut the site down for violating spamming rules
     
  • Some sites only allow X number of emails to be sent per day from ALL members combined.  If it is a particularly active site, it may take several days for your approved emails to be sent.
     
  • Banners, buttons, surf sites, and textlinks are randomly selected and put into respective queues that feed the rotators that display them on the headers of emails (click for credit) and safelist member area pages. 
    • Even on small safelists, there are literally THOUSANDS of these ads feeding the rotators, so it may take DAYS or WEEKS after approval to be displayed JUST ONCE.
       
    • This is why I do not recommend these PASSIVE traffic ads.  They take so long to get views, rarely get clicked. But they do contribute to brand recognition.  IMHO, Not worth the effort required for such a meager ROI.


What if You Need Your Ads to Be Sent for a Certain Day/Time?

  • Contact the Admin (usually through their support ticket system).  Some Admins will cater to special requests for PURCHASED ADS if you are an UPGRADED MEMBER.  
     
  • Some Credit Mail systems allow you to set the date/time that the ads are delivered.  These are typically auto-approved.
     
  • SetNForget Solos allow you to purchase solos for all week or certain days of the week, and the frequency for your solo to go out.  They are approved once when they are submitted, and typically released overnight on the days selected

 

My Recommendations
  • Create a CALENDAR that maps out which sites can send on which days
     
  • Use a tool like MasterSafelistMails (absolutely free) to reduce your Gmail traffic.  Gmail sets limits on the number of emails YOU can receive over a period of time, which could be slowing down delivery of messages to your inbox or even cause the email to BOUNCE.  Most safelists will try to resend the email, but too many bounces and the software may suspend your account or put your account in VACATION MODE.

    Once you enter your userid and password for the safelist in MSM, credit mails, solos, and supersolo emails will no longer be delivered to your gmail inbox, but can be accessed on MSM.  Only Admin emails will be delivered to your Gmail inbox.

    The more people who use MasterSafelistMails, the less outgoing email is sent from the site, which means fewer delays.

    Members of those sites using MSM get IMMEDIATE delivery of the emails YOU send because there is no queuing or pacing.
     

  • Use a premium tool like Trafficzipper Autopilot that monitors selected highly effective traffic sites, and sends your emails when you are permitted to send and you have enough credits.
     
  • Send your ads with critical timing issues EARLY in the day because it could effect your timing the rest of the week
     
  • Join and use Dave Mosher's sites (join them from Advertising Blowout, redeem the exclusive promo codes and promo code newmember), add and update those sites in MasterSafelistMails. 

    Submit your SuperSolos, credit mails and solo ads ANY TIME because they are Auto-Approved.
     

  • Submit ads that require approval before 5PM Eastern to get them approved that day.  Sponsor Login Ads are the only ad type I'd be concerned with in respect for timing.  These are highly effective ads.
     
  • I personally do not put much effort into posting banners, buttons, surf sites, or textlinks.

    Exception:  if I have REFERRALS on any of these sites, I post textlinks on those sites because every time my referrals login to the site, they are shown a screen that contains EXCLUSIVELY MY TEXTLINKS

Clearly identifying and describing the problem helps support do the best job possible of helping you.
  • If you are vague it makes it more difficult for support to identify your problem and provide you with a fast solution.

Now we have established that you need the tools to enable you to perform the tasks to build your list, you will also want the tools to COMMUNICATE with your subscribers.  This is done in several ways:

  • Campaign setup and messaging
    • Your campaign inherently ensures your subscribers are REAL, and you can COMMUNICATE with them using double-optin  email verification
       
    • Your leads are sent a verification REQUEST.

      TIP: This is an opportunity to BETTER ENSURE THEY DO THAT VERIFICATION by offering a FREE BONUS and setting the subject line in the campaign setup verification request email like:

      "Please Verify Your Email For Access to xxx and Collect Your Bonuses"
       

    • Your leads must REPLY to be registered as a SUBSCRIBER
       
    • Once verified, they are redirected to the sales page or application.

      TIP:  I prefer to set the redirect to a ThankYou/Bonus Page that contains a link to the intended sales page or application, in addition to the promised FREE BONUS, and other enticements.  This ThankYou/Bonus Page is created just like a capture page with the Splashpage Builder
       

    • At the same time, a WELCOME MESSAGE is sent.  This is an opportunity to remind them to collect their bonuses, repeat the URL of the ThankYou/Bonus Page, tell them they will be receiving messages (or newsletters) over the next days/weeks, and provide an introduction to YOU as their sponsor. 

      This is where I start providing a full signature line that includes a BUSINESS QUALITY picture (not an avatar), my website, contact email, YouTube channels, and links to MY business opportunity or other affiliate links.(See below)
       

  • Autoresponder message streams
    • This is the meat of the information you are providing to the subscribers
       
    • TIP:  I've been known to use the SALES PAGE almost verbatim (made "my own" using ChatGPT to rewrite copy).  People do not read sales pages, so I break the sales page info into bite-sized chunks in my autoreponder message stream and eventually deliver all the content from the sales page over a period of days.
       
    • Each message should have your full signature line, including links for other business opportunities, promo code sites, and traffic sites.
       
  • Broadcasts
    • I can send one HTML formatted broadcast per day to my REFERRALS (also called my DOWNLINE).
       
    • I can send UNLIMITED broadcasts (HTML or Text) to subscribers of each autoresponder CAMPAIGN  (I don't recommend more than one per day).
       
    • I send this newsletter daily to my downlines and subscribers to each campaign.

How I Measure MY Success

I'm retired so my yardsticks are different than most in network marketing, but I still TREAT THIS LIKE A BUSINESS.  It is NOT a HOBBY.

Sales revenue is only one way to measure success. Let's face it, you have to keep the lights burning.  PROFITS are more important.

PROFITS = REVENUE – COSTS > 0

Understand that it DOES COST MONEY to run a business.  You not only need to invest TIME, and even though you might be able to use FREE RESOURCES and SPEND TIME clicking for credits, at some point you will come to the realization that you have limitations because you placed a higher value on spending TIME to acquire FREE RESOURCES, than the the ultimate goal of GROWING YOUR BUSINESS.

If you would spend less time to acquire low-value resources, and spend some money so you could apply that time to CREATIVE list building and revenue-generating processes, the probability of reaching your business goals increases significantly.

I'd like to think that people whose goal is to MAKE MONEY, they should have a BUSINESS PLAN, and set interim goals and define tasks in order to meet those goals.

The business plan should include a BUDGET for tools and resources that ENABLE YOU TO BUILD YOUR BUSINESS. 
 

YOUR LIST IS YOUR BUSINESS.
I BUILD MY LIST EVERY DAY.
  • I am in constant pursuit of ACQUIRING new leads, and providing enticing content to turn those leads into SUBSCRIBERS

    I add anywhere from 5 to 20 new subscribers to my list every day
     

  • My initial goal with subscribers is to keep their interest by providing target-appropriate content in my autoresponder message streams to KEEP them as subscribers

    I rarely have unsubscribes once they are on my list.  I use double-opt-in lead capture to filter sign-ups, and police my lists to keep them clean.
     

  • I then communicate with my subscribers BUILD RAPPORT so I can build TRUST

    People BUY from people they TRUST.  Sales come from subscribers.  Period.

 
My approach is to TEACH and INFORM, and using a method called CONSULTATIVE SELLING, if I can get people to UNDERSTAND, and I SHARE the tools and techniques I have used personally to be successful, THE SALES WILL COME.

Now, Put It All Together

Create a capture page with the book cover image, and your capture form.

Be sure your PLR item is web-addressable, or upload to a web storage site (NOT Google Drive) or hosting account like ViralHosts.

Create a Thankyou/Bonus Page with the download link to the primary lead magnet product.  Be sure the capture page redirects to your thankyou/bonus page after email verification.  Make a Bonus section that gives away related content, training, videos, traffic sources, promo code sites, etc.
