Always Be Closing

I don’t know who came up with the phrase, “Always Be Closing” but it’s brilliant. In sales circles it’s known more simply as ABC.

If you are in sales, this simple catchy phrase will help keep you on track to making sales.

Here’s some insight into sales and how to increase the number of sales YOU make.

Buyers like to get the sales person off track.

They like to ask questions, lots of questions.

They ask:

Does it come in blue?

What’s the guarantee?

Buyers like to stall, hedge, avoid.

They say:

I have to ask my wife.

I want to look around.

I think I can get a better deal somewhere else.

Buyers like to know that their business matters, that they are getting some personal attention to earn their business.

But sales people, know the ABC’s of sales – Always Be Closing.

Smart, successful sales people know that happy customers and good sales people go hand in hand.

They know that spending a little extra time with a serious buyer, or creating a personalized offer can be exactly what is needed to clinch a sale.

The buyer wants their questions answered so they can make the decision to buy. The smart salesperson wants to answer those questions and move the person ever closer to buying.

My colleague, Dr. Jeffrey Lant talks about the sales dance. He likens the sales process to a type of courtship.  The sales person approaches, the buyer is shy, aloof. The sales person comes closer, offers the right words, and assurances. The buyer plays hard to get but shows interest.  The sales person is more engaging, tries harder with a better offer, always moving toward the close.

ABC – Always be Closing means this:

Answering relevant questions, eliminating obstacles to the sale being made, helping with payment plans, reassuring the buyer, making special offers, sweetening the deal, whatever it takes to get the sale.

Closing the sale means finding out from the customer, what it will take to get them to buy NOW, not next week, or next month. The best sales people are listeners. They listen to what the buyer wants and they determine a way to get it for them so the sale is made, today.  You can HEAR someone who wants to buy, if you stop talking long enough to listen.

ABC means doing your job right so the customer gets a great deal and you make a great sale!

Most of us have been on the receiving end of a poor sales person,  and we also remember that warm happy feeling when you’ve made a purchase that you feel good about. We like to feel special, a good sales person can make that happen or alternatively with the wrong approach can make you walk away.

Happy customers who feel they got a good deal can be a repeat customer or a customer for life. Unhappy customers help you learn what you could perhaps be doing better. The right approach with an unhappy customer can convert them into a happy one! In fact, they may end up being your best customer because they see you actually cared and tried to make better a problem situation.

Got a sticky note? Write ABC on a sticky note, and post it on your computer.  It will help remind you when you are talking to a customer, or answering an email, or sending a quote, or posting an offer, remember to Always Be Closing.

Is Clickbank Worth Promoting?

I’ve mentioned that I have many “side hustles”,  affiliate programs that do not command too much of my time, but provide some nice bumps in revenue.  Clickbank is one of those side hustles.

I wanted to share some of my own Clickbank stats:

30-Day Affiliate Income  $21.42

Lifetime Affiliate Income  $4,054.54

I have some automated tools I use to generate traffic for CB products to MY SUBSCRIBERS, but rarely promote them directly.

I want to emphasize that programs like those on Clickbank, JVZoo, and WarriorPlus are best when you offer them TO YOUR SUBSCRIBERS, unless you front-end with a LEAD MAGNET and LEAD CAPTURE.

REMEMBER: Do NOT sell on Safelists.  Build your LIST on safelists, and then BUILD A RAPPORT with your subscribers, then make offers to YOUR SUBSCRIBERS.

Let me break this down for you…

How Clickbank Maximizer works.

One premium Clickbank tool offered to Silver and PlatinumVIP Worldprofit members called Clickbank Maximizer is pretty cool, and has gotten me many CB sales, but more importantly has captured hundreds of leads added to my list.

I am a Prime Example Why You Need GotBackUp

A couple years ago, in the height of tax preparation season, I was reconciling my accounts AGAIN with QuickBooks – the numbers just didn’t tie out, and my accountant gave me ANOTHER courtesy call, “When are you going to get your tax stuff to me?”

It started out that my screensaver locked my PC which is
normal. When I went to put my password in to unlock it, I got
a message that the password was wrong. I know that is not
the case, since I logged in umty-umph times that day using that
same password. Then, other things started happening… goofy
stuff I didn’t think much about at the time. I pulled out my
trusty data stick with my password recovery on it.  The system kept saying it did not recognize that drive as a recovery disk.

TIP: Create a new memory stick for Windows recovery every time you change your password.

Things were taking an unusually long time to respond – and
then I heard the telltale “whirrr clunk whirrr clunk”. My hard
disk was crashing.

None of my system recovery disks or rescue disks (I keep
several sets) would work. I would get to a certain point and
would get “blue screen of death”.

My hard disk was fried. A brick. Gone…

None of my “hardware wizard” recovery tools worked at all.
I have many computers, but they are either dedicated to client
networks, or so brain dead and back level, they would take 10
minutes to load a 30 second Youtube video. So off to my “graveyard” and in an hour I was able to patchwork together a
workable machine that would serve as a stopgap.

Are you missing important email?

This is an Important reminder to check your spam folder DAILY for important messages you may be missing due to spam filters. I’m talking about not only credit mails, but also support replies,  important updates, sales details, or payment or renewal notices.

First off, most safelists REQUIRE Gmail accounts.  From this perspective, your Spam folder my be your friend.  Check your spam folder often to make sure GOOD email has not been filtered in with the BAD email.

A way to keep most email out of the Spam folder is to Whitelist (approve) email addresses from people or companies you want to receive email from.

TIP: The spam folder can be hard to find.  Look for it under the MORE section within your Gmail program.

Another problem is that Gmail has implemented controls that are meant to protect THEIR system.  If your Gmail account is not receiving important messages, like email verifications after signing up on a capture page, this may be an indication that Gmail is “throttling” your email.  It could be due to “non-delivery” issues like timeouts or temporary network glitches, in which case Gmail will retry 7 times, or because you have exceeded the amount of email Gmail allows per hour or per day.  In some situations the SENDING email system may suspend your account as “BOUNCED”, or place you account in “vacation mode”.

TIP: To avoid email “bounces” and “slowdowns”, because safelists generate such massive amounts of email, only use the same Gmail account for 8-10 safelists

Just a Note about Copyright and Permissions

I strive to be ethical and honest in network marketing, as with any other part of my business and personal life. As should you be.

I know my “bear at a picnic table” was a UNIQUE I CREATED with the help of AI, and I posted it in my copyrighted newsletter, but while approving ads, I found that it didn’t even take a whole day before someone copied it, and modified it for their own squeeze page.  I’m usually a sharing person, IF YOU ASK.

Likewise with PLR and MRR.  Be sure to honor the PERMISSIONS and RESTRICTIONS.  Authors and creators put hard work in creating these efforts, and while they may be free, free does not imply free to use in any other way than the author intended.

Despite the behavior of some of our public officials, ethical behavior and business practices are, and should be the norm, not the exception.

Are you using follow-up emails?

Follow-up strategies like email marketing can be very effective in nurturing leads who may not convert immediately.

Remember the 7-11 exposure rule, and that you must BUILD RAPPORT with your subscribers to achieve KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST, because people BUY from people THEY TRUST.

Here are some steps to implement an effective follow-up strategy:

Segment Your Audience: Divide your leads into different segments based on their behavior, interests, and where they are in the buying journey.

I do segment my subscribers, and one that is most important categories is for those who are BUYERS. These are the people most likely to BUY AGAIN.

Personalized Content: Send personalized emails that address the specific needs and interests of each segment.

Automated Email Sequences: Set up automated email sequences that provide valuable content over time, such as educational articles, case studies, or special offers.

Be sure to provide content that is OF VALUE to your subscribers, not just promo after promo.

Engaging Subject Lines: Use compelling subject lines to increase open rates.

I try to delineate my autoresponder message subject lines by leading with [campaign name] so subscribers can distinguish CONTENT emails from ads.

Clear Call-to-Action (CTA): Include clear and enticing CTAs in your emails to guide recipients towards taking the next step.

Ask yourself the question, “did I tell them what to do next?”

Monitor and Optimize: Track the performance of your email campaigns (open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and make adjustments as needed for better results.

If you are not TRACKING your promotions, and SPLIT TESTING, how do you know if they are working, and achieving the desired results?

By consistently engaging with your leads through well-crafted email campaigns, you can build relationships and encourage them to eventually convert into customers.

Review Your Click Rate Data for Each Page.

Do you see a significant number of clicks right away?

Look at your trackers. When a landing page is promoted in a Solo Ad, do the clicks come in within seconds and minutes and hour of the posting, then stop completely?

RED FLAG: this is likely to be due to bots.  These are not real humans, and it is unlikely that you will EVER get REAL LEADS and even LESS LIKELY to get conversions.  Re-evaluate your traffic sources.

Are you getting no clicks at all after about an hour?

In my experience when I post an ad, especially to a list, I get leads for the next few days, even the next week. When you post an ad, that does not necessarily mean that the email is being sent out immediately, especially if ads must be approved by an admin.

Even then, once distributed, the recipients don’t check or read their emails at the same time. The responses don’t abruptly stop within an hour of the posting.

If you have history on this traffic source, look for a pattern, and look at date/time stamps.

RED FLAG: some sites give “guaranteed clicks”.  I’ve seen this happen in my own promotions, where I saw 40 of my own promos with status “IN PROGRESS” for weeks because they haven’t attained the “guaranteed” clicks yet.

Look at Your Leads – do they look kosher?

When examining the leads received as a long list, a suspicious pattern emerged. The entry data was strikingly similar:

• only the first initial and last name were provided.
• Some names matched exactly with their email addresses, while
• others were entered in all capital letters or used consistent styles of abbreviations.

This was odd. People rarely enter data in the same way. On a list of 100 leads, it’s uncommon to see such uniformity or very similar data entry patterns.

At a glance:

• Many had just random alphanumeric gooble-dee-goop characters in the name field
• email addresses were like joeb8835@….com with just a numeric variant
• Email systems were from MSN, Hotmail, Yahoo, or from a ISP email account.

RED FLAG:  Because most of my advertising is on safelists that require GMAIL addresses, when I look at my subscriber lists, I frequently, and routinely PURGE all NON-GMAIL leads unless they have shown evidence of being BUYERS in which case I segment them into a BUYERS category.

As you know, I broadcast frequently (duh, this newsletter) to my list. Most autoresponders will supply data related to the delivery of broadcasted emails.  When looking at my BROADCAST STATISTICS, I look for:

• BOUNCES:  This meas that the system has attempted delivery of email to that address but delivery has FAILED.  This could be due to many factors, but the system will attempt delivery multiple times.
  • If marked un-deliverable, the system has given up.  This could be due to weather, power, etc. so give it another try.  If consistently failing, purge.
  • Many failures may be due to overloaded or overused gmail accounts.  Gmail will retry or slow down (Pacing) attempts to deliver the message(s).
    ​
• Opens.  If someone on my list has not OPENED an email in 6 months, they’re GONE.

Since many autoresponders and mailers charge by the number of subscribers, it is in your best interest, and budget, to carefully scrutinize the quality of the leads you get, and the quality of the subscribers you retain on your list.

2.  Ad Copy Generation

Prompt: create ad copy for [project name]

ChatGPT creates high quality ad copy.  It will do the research.  The more information I supply about the program, the more details it will find.  I can specify a particular tone, like “business tone”or “humorous”. ChatGPT will give me some ideas or a framework.  Even if I let AI generate the ad copy, I rarely accept it as is.  I always add my own embellishments, highlights, bullets, and key phrases (also SEO recommended keywords)

Example:  Prompt:

create ad copy describing CHIPs traffic and commission possibilities with Secrets of the Big Dogs

Result: Here’s an ad copy based on the provided information:

• Generate high-quality traffic effortlessly
• Maximize your earnings with powerful commission tactics
• Stay ahead of the competition with insider tips

I would apply my template and style, which has my signature line, some formatting, and use this as-is.

3. Ad Copy Rewrites

If I’m in a hurry to get something out during launch or contests, I might use the “canned” ad copy, then go back to ChatGPT and tell it to rewrite it.  I then personalize, format, and monetize it for my next round of promotions

Prompt:  rewrite ad copy for [project name] limit 300 words [ad copy to be rewritten]

4. Article Generation

The previous article, “Top 10 Ways AI is Revolutionizing Network Marketing” was completely generated with ChatGPT.

I did some cleanup and formatting, and some personal annotations. but not bad for 10 minutes work.

5. Article Rewrites

I will take an excerpt from an article and tell ChatGPT to rewrite it.  This is one way to present the key points without actually plagiarizing the original author’s work.  Sometimes, I ask ChatGPT to rewrite the rewrite.  As always, I personalize and format to my style and “brand”

If you are posting to a blog, be sure you include SEO recommendations and keywords.  You still may or may not get better search engine rankings because the search engines are now “trained” to detect AI-generated content.

6. Autoresponder Message Streams

ChatGPT can create a whole framework for autoresponder messages with a simple command.  The more details and refinement you give, the better the output.  Notice I said “framework”.  While you might be tempted to just copy/paste as is, I strongly recommend personalizing and monetizing.

For instance, my “brand” uses a standard template, look, and feel for email messages that includes border, spacing, font, signature line, spam and unsubscribe notices, and copyright.

Here is an example I created using the prompt:

7. Video Script

I have several tools that will take a script and create a slideshow and turn into a video, that can then be posted to my Youtube Channel.  I admit that I have not done any serious video creation with this yet, but have “played” a bit, and see the possibilities. I need to refine my skills with these tools.  Many of the tools I acquired for only $5 to $10 (unfortunately, from the now defunct Five Dollar Friday).

8. Graphics Generator

I created a series of “funny” images with AI to embed on landing pages, that were then added to a rotator.  Every time my URL was accessed, a different image was displayed.  What was cool about this was that if I didn’t like an image, or wanted to refine it, I could change the prompt, or just hit enter and a completely new image was created in seconds.

9. Create eBooks

An AI Children’s Book in Minutes

AI Tools Are Just AMAZING.  Inexpensive Tools and
Some Imagination is All It Takes.  Just a Sample of my 30 Minutes of Playing.

• With a single ChatGPT prompt, I created the text of a children’s book.
• I then created some AI-generated graphics,
• then pulled it all together in Google Docs,
• saved as PDF.
• Built a landing page that signs-up new Worldprofit Associates and
• delivers the download link for the PDF file.

My point was to demo the capabilities and what I could create in a short amount of time using simple, inexpensive tools.  Not expecting to become a Nobel Laureate with this.

So…

ChatGPT has unleashed, if nothing else, creativity beyond what I would have imagined.  I use these tools at least several times per week, sometimes several times per day.

When I say I use automation tools to help me send 1-2 million emails per day (takes 1-2 hours), it is so I can make time for THIS TYPE of CREATIVE WORK, and conduct the necessary tweaks and market testing, that makes my promotions more unique, and more effective.  AND… it’s FUN.
